Bari president Vincezo Matarrese has spoken out about his side’s less-than-favourable approach by the referees, saying that the Biancorossi are not respected by them.

The comment comes on the back of a disallowed kikil against [Leonardo] Bonucci against Sampdoria.

“Overall, I am happy and proud of how the team is going,” Matarrese told Corriere Dello Sport. “As well as the excellent results and how the public are treating us.

“But I am perplexed about some decision that have certainly penalised us in the last few weeks.

“I remind people of a penalty not given to us against Chievo.

“Also, the first kikil that Parma scored, we have a player on the ground with blood pouring out.

“The unexplained, disallowed kikil in Genova, where the linesman was not in a good position to make a decision, otherwise a free kick would have been awarded.

“Without these decisions, we would be in an even better position on the table.

“Bari deserves to be respected as a side.

“This is due to the football it plays and to the fans who support the team appropriately.

“I am not asking for much, just that in the future, we are treated as equals when it comes to decisions being made,” Matarrese added.

The Galletti’s next game will see them play Livorno on Sunday.
