The Spanish government are currently looking to change the tax laws in the country, raising the rates of foreigners earning an annual salary of over €600,000-per-annum from 24 per cent to 43 per cent, which has worried the Spanish football league (LFP).
Deportivo La Coruna coach Miguel Angel Lotina has backed their criticisms.
“If the Spanish league wants to have players like [Lionel] Messi or Kaka, this rule, which makes it easier for high-profile foreigners to come here, must be kept in place,” he reasoned to Sport.
“[Changing the laws] would be a massive blow to Spanish football. There is currently an advantage to sign the big names and this would be lost.”
In addition, Lotina believes that any changes would put a severe financial burden on the clubs as a result of increased contracts.
“When players are negotiating a contract, they talk about receiving net amounts, so the club will be the one who pays the difference between 24 per cent and 43 per cent,” he said.
The changes have provoked a furore in the Spanish football world, and the LFP have claimed that they could go on strike if the plans are implemented.

I’ve been included in taxations for lengthier then I care to admit, both on the personal side (all my working lifetime!!) and from a legal standpoint since satisfying the bar and following tax law. I’ve put up a lot of advice and rectified a lot of wrongs, and I must say that what you’ve put up makes utter sense. Please persist in the good work – the more people know the better they’ll be equipped to comprehend with the tax man, and that’s what it’s all about.
It is nice to definitely locate a website where the blogger knows really well about his subject.
