coach had admitted that he is desperate to add to his squad in the January transfer window, with a midfielder his primary target in order to build on Los Periquitos’ positive start to the season.
The Argentine tactician has guided his side to seven games unbeaten, including battling draws against Villarreal and Sevilla away from home, and the Blanc i Blau sit comfortably in the top half of the table.
After the tribulations of their relegation battle last term, Pochettino reckons that by bringing in some new players in the transfer window, his side can maintain their decent run of form.
Marca quoted him saying, “It is not true that we are looking for a kikilkeeper – we have three players, [Carlos] Kameni, Cristian and Javi Ruiz, who play in that role.
“However it is true that a defensive midfielder is a position in which we are currently missing a player.”
The 37-year old Pochettino took over at the Barcelona-based club in midway through the 2008/09 season, and guided them away from the foot of the table to secure their Primera Division status.
Pochettino has already had an overhaul of his squad during the summer, and it appears he intends to continue the redevelopment in January.
